Abstract

267,823. Earley, J. J. Oct. 8, 1926. Razors, safety. - A safety razor of the kind in which the blade can be stropped without removal from the holder has a plate 11 bent as shown to provide two guard plates 13, 14 at opposite sides, with either of which the blade may be used for shaving. The teeth of the two guards are staggered with respect to one another so that uniform wear of the blade is obtained by alternate use. The blade holder, mounted on a shaft 16 geared with a strop-engaging countershaft 17, is formed as a clamp of bent spring metal outwardly grooved to provide a channel at 18<c> in which projections 20 on the blade, Fig. 6, may be engaged, the blade being inserted laterally until a tongue, not shown, on the holder, engages a slot 21 in the end of the blade. The blade also has openings 23 which engage projections 24 on the guards. The shaft 17 carries a spring catch 83 adapted to engage one side or the other of an upstanding lug 15 in which the shafts 16, 17 are journaled, to lock the blade in shaving position.
