Abstract
267,470. Gminder, E. March 13, 1026, [Convention date]. Addition to 262,154. Yarns and threads, mercerizing. -In the process of the parent Specification, the material after cooling and while still in a stretched condition is passed over hot rollers or other heated surfaces. The dry heating thus obtained reduces shrinking and the mercerizing liquor used is thus maintained in a more concentrated form desirable for re-use. Shrinkage may be regulated by providing .additional cooling rollers following the heating rollers and beyond the stretching zone, smooth guide rollers being arranged between the heating and cooling rollers, and nearer to the former than the latter. Shrinkage may be entirely prevented by using hot water as a diluent in addition to the hot roller treatment.
