267,398. Spalding & Bros. (British), Ltd., A. G., (Reach, M. B., and Reach, W. F.). Aug. 18, 1926. Golf clubs. - Relates to a golf club having a wooden head 1 and tubular metal shaft 3, and consists in that the socket is upwardly tapered to receive a sleeve 2 of corresponding taper, the bore of the sleeve being downwardly tapered to receive the shaft. The sleeve is formed of an aluminium alloy or of a cellulose compound and is held in place by a screw 4. The lower end of the shaft may be slotted and receive an expanding screw 6, Fig. 2. A wrapping of cellulose material is commenced at the point 5 and extends up the shaft. The shaft may be coated with a cellulose solvent to cause it to adhere to the sleeve and wrappings.
