Abstract

267,357. Nanni, M. May 27, 1926. Buoys.-Coupling means for retaining lifesaving chambers &c. on submarine boats &c., comprises similar hatchways on the boat and chamber &c. to be connected, closed by sliding watertight doors 14, Fig. 1, the hatchways being formed at their edges with registering grooves 19 which are exhausted to form vacuum means for holding the chamber in place. The ends of the chambers may be formed with hemispherical recesses 32, Fig. 6, to register with similar recesses 33 formed in a cylinder sliding in a guide block 35. The grooves 19 and recesses 32 are exhausted through pipes 10. The chamber is detached after the hatches 14 are closed by operating a cock 8 to admit water to the grooves 19 and recesses 32.
