Abstract

267,247. Bleloch, W. E. Dec. 22, 1925. Razors.- Relates to detail improvements in a holder for safety razor blades, for shaving and stropping, of the kind described in Specification 250,624. The support 1 is without longitudinal recesses adjacent to the cutting edges of the blade 2, and is curved transversely. The sides of the slots 3 between the guard teeth are inclined so that the teeth are of inverted V-section. The end of member 1 has a recess 8 ending in an upturned tongue 11, engaging one of the holes 13 in the blade. The other hole 13 is engaged by a hooked catch 21 projecting through a slot and formed on the end of a rod 25 urged to the right into engagement by a spring 20 disposed between a loose collar 28 bearing against a bifurcated abutment bent down from member 1, and an operating button 24 secured to the rod, the stem of the button passing through a slot in member 1. The hooked catch has an acute angle, and overlaps the edges of the slot, being bevelled off in opposite direction, the edges of the slot being also bevelled. This construction is stated to avoid splitting the blade. The outer ends of the holes 13 in the blade may end in U- or V-form slots cooperating with the catches. A transversely arched shield plate 10 has a hooked outer end engaging in and centred by the shouldered recess 8, the hook engaging under member 1. The other end of the shield plate has a spring tongue passed down through a slot 16 in member 1. This tongue has a ridge 31 bearing against the underside of member 1, and its free end 18 bears with pressure against the catch rod 25, so that the shield is pressed against the blade, ridge 31 acting as a fulcrum.
