Illuminated stencil and transparency indicators. -A traffic control column giving both audible and visible signals comprises a column having at its base a platform and provided at its upper end with a box-shaped member, the vertical sides of which are fitted with lenses of different colour while inside are provided audible alarms and lamps mounted behind the lenses, the column being also fitted with a control box. The column 1 is provided at the base with a platform 2 fitted with an electric heater 3. A control box 4 enclosing switches is fitted and a mirror 5 for viewing traffic behind the controller. In the upper part is arranged the signalling box 6 having four or more sides each provided with red and green lenses backed by reflectors 11 enclosing lamps n in circuit with alarms 12, 13 ,14 and a bell 15. A red globe 9 and a white lamp 10 complete the top of the column. The leads enter the box through a socket tube 16 in the bottom. Boxes 17 for pedestrian traffic are arranged on columns on the side walks. Each box is divided by a partition 18 above and below which are red and green glasses behind stencilled sides exposing the words " stop " and " proceed." The compartments are provided with lamps a - - d in circuit with alarms e - - h. The circuits are controlled from the box 4. In a modification the platform and control box together with a staircase may be raised and lowered in an opening in the ground.
