Cupping.-Cushioned pressure-pads for cupping presses are provided with a number of guide members to prevent tilting during operation. The pressure-pad 25 for supporting the blank-holder 34 of a press for drawing sheet metal &c. is provided with long bearings 30, sliding on fixed rods 18. The upper dies 14 are carried by a ram operated by crank and connecting-rod mechanism, the rods being adjustable in length to vary the position of the stroke. The blank-holder is supported by pins 33. and distance-pieces 31, with interengaging dowels 32 may be mounted on the pressure-pad to build up the support for the pins 33, to the desired height. The pressure-pad is mounted on a piston-rod 24 working in a fluidpressure cushioning cylinder 23, which is carried in a pit below the bed-plate 10 by the rods 18. Annular frames 35 which surround the distance. pieces may be mounted on the bedplate to carry the pin guiding-plate 36.
