Abstract

265,783. Foot, E. H. W. Feb. 19, 1926. Rotary-tool implements; cleaning parts; guards. - Cultivators comprising tines mounted on a transverse rotary shaft driven by a motor are provided with tine-clearing apparatus consisting of blades or scrapers mounted on a parallel shaft rotating in the opposite direction to the tine-carrying shaft with the clearing-blades passing between the tines. The tine-carrying shaft a and the clearing shaft b are both made in independently driven halves. The shaft a is driven directly from the cross-shaft c by bevel or chain gearing in casings d. The shaft b is driven from the shaft c through gear wheels e, an intermediate shaft f, and chains h. The clearing-blades k are mounted in pairs staggered relatively to one another, each member of a pair being diametrically opposite to the other. The blades k may be curved or radial, and flat blades may have bent portions forming tongues or projections. A guard m is supported by the parts l that carry the shaft b.
