Abstract
264,452. Johann, C. S. Jan. 18, 1926, [Convention date]. Stoving under pressure.-A gas container 10 is provided with a neck fitting 11 threaded at 14 to accommodate a cap 15. The cap 15 is holed at 17 and provided with a penetrable safety plate 19. A body 21 screws on to the fitting 11 and is provided with an inlet 25 through which fluid can enter. Outside the body a handwheel 35 is fitted to operate a carrier 23 through a shaft 25 which is encircled by a gland 36. Tapered sockets 27 on the carrier 23 co-operate with similar lugs 15<a> on the cap. Fluid under pressure is admitted through the inlet 25, and when the desired amount of pressure is obtained in the container 10 the carrier 23 is moved down by operating the hand wheel 35 and the cap is screwed home. Fluid supply is then cut off and the carrier moved away from the cap. The body 21 can now be. removed, leaving the container tightly closed.
