Regulating transformers.-In order to supply several circuits with currents at different voltages, a transformer is provided with several independently adjustable contacts sliding in parallel paths over the outer layer of the windings. Fig. 2 shows the invention applied to a transformer in which the windings a are arranged on an annular core. The contacts comprise carbon brushes 1, 2, 3 carried by members 12 adapted for independent rotation by hand-wheels 16. The sliding contacts operate over the middle portion of the winding, the end portions of which are tapped at intervals and are connected to terminals 20 on a terminal board 17 forming a stop for the sliding contacts. Where the range of adjustment required permits, the several contacts may be arranged to move over the same path, and if simultaneous adjustment is required, provision may be made for locking the operating wheels 16 together. Fig. 3 shows the invention applied to a transformer in which the windings a are arranged on a rectangular core. The brushes are carried in holders 24 sliding in guides 23 and operated by screwed rods 25.
