263,039. Stourbridge Glazed Brick & Fire Clay Co., Ltd., and Clark, F. H. June 19, 1926. Open fireplaces; tiling.-A tiled or like surround for a fireplace is secured in place by a two-part fastening, one part a being embedded in the edge of the cement body of the surround and formed with a recess f, and the other part h fixed in the wall and having a hook or tongue g which engages the recess f. The part a may be anchored by lugs c and may be secured to a reinforcing bar e. The rear portion k of the recess may be cut away to allow the part h to lie flush with the upper edge. In a modification, a separate tongue is inserted through the part h and into the part a. The fastening may be used on the sides of the surround, the part being then cemented in a cutaway part of the wall.
