Gases, supplying. - In an electrically-heated bright annealing furnace 1 working with an inert gas, the latter is continuously withdrawn from the furnace through a pipe 11 by a rotary pump 12 and delivered to a receptacle 13 containing material 14 which absorbs moisture and combustible vapours formed in the furnace, the dried and purified gas re-entering the furnace through a pipe 15.
