Abstract

262,131. Ultra-Filtre D.M.S., (Assignees of Duclaux, J.). Nov. 25, 1925, [Convention date]. Filtering-media.-Liquids are purified or substances dissolved in solvents are recovered by passage of the liquid through porous membranes such as those made of, or having as their basis, nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, regenerated cellulose from xanthate or from nitrocellulose, or golatine or gelose, a number of the membranes being superposed to form a porous mass. The membranes may be regenerated by a reverse flow of the filtered liquid, at the temperature of filtration or at a different temperature, or of some other washing liquid. Where an aqueous solution is being treated alcohol may be used ior this purpose. The membranes may be impregnated with alumina, colloidal silica, aluminium silicates, or decolorizing carbon. They may be arranged in frames or between perforated plates, and may be divided into groups which can be used in series or in parallel. Specifications 155,834, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), and 239,777 are referred to.
