Abstract
262,120. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Nov. 30, 1925, [Convention date]. Dehydrogenated organic compounds, catalytic production of.-Dehydrogenation processes are carried out with the use as catalysts of heavymetal sulphides, which may be used alone, or in admixture with one another or with other materials, or precipitated on a support. Examples describe the preparation of (1) isobutyraldehyde from isobutyl alcohol, and (2) isovaleraldehyde from isoamyl alcohol using as catalysts respectively (1) zinc sulphide or cadmium sulphide on a carrier of pumice stone and (2) zinc sulphide. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers to metal sulphides in general and specifically to the sulphides of nickel, cobalt, iron, aluminium, calcium, and magnesium. It. includes also examples describing the preparation of (1) cymene from turpentine and (2) isobutyronitrile from isobutyl amine using as catalysts respectively (1) zinc sulphide precipitated on pumice stone and (2) a mixture of zinc sulphide and " Marquart's mass " (a product derived from kaolin and alumina). This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
