Hand - trucks. - In a lifting handtruck or trolley of the kind in which a lever handle is adapted to operate the lifting platform mounted on the main frame, the lifting platform being releasably held in its elevated position by a detent, and in which a sliding device on the lever handle is connected with a trigger for latching the lever handle in its upright position and also for engaging and releasing locking means upon lowering the handle to inclined position preparatory to lowering the load frame, the lever handle l, pivoted on the axle e, is adapted for engaging with a pivoted link or quadrant i by means of lateral lugs k for effecting the raising of the lifting platform n, and is provided with trigger means adapted for coming into engagement with a detent q when the handle is in its lowered position, so that the detent can be released preparatory to the descent of the platform only after bringing the lever handle to its lowered position. The trigger means comprise a plate x, a hook 3, a rod s under control of a spring t, and a handle v. When the platform n is raised by the lever handle l turning the quadrant i by means of the lateral lug k, the detent q engages the quadrant i by means of the undercut tooth p. The lever is then free to be raised to vertical position and engaged with a bar f by means of the latch z. To release the platform n, the lever handle l is lowered, and further pressure releases the tooth p, whereupon the detent may be freed by means of the hooks 3, 4 and the trigger means.
