Abstract

259,918. Umbach, J. Oct. 19, 1925, [Convention date].Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Cellulose xanthates, processes for making filaments from.-Cotton rags are used as the starting material in the manufacture of artificial silk according to the viscose process. The rags are freed from grease by means of alkali, washed, if desired bleached, and then either mercerized in the form of rags, or after they had been disintegrated in a hollander and the resulting pulp made up into paper, board, or flakes.
