Description
The invention relates to a method for producing a voluminous, porous and accordingly particularly absorbent paper-like material with a felt-like character, as a result of these properties for the production of z. B. of artificial leather by soaking with impregnating agents, e.g. latex or the like, is particularly suitable, cellulose fibers Any origin in loose fibers can be used as the starting material.
The new method consists in that cellulose fibers suitable for papermaking length in the form unpressed loose fibers without cooking at temperatures of 20 to 6o ° with such amounts of caustic alkali solutions of Mercerisierungsstärke, corresponding to a 16 to 35 ° / o aqueous sodium hydroxide solution at a pulp density of 11.9 ° / 0 or above, in which therefore to 1 part 7.4 parts of substance solution or less are used, handled and that the reaction between the fibers and solution within 30 minutes, but preferably after only a few, for complete distribution of the solution in the fiber mass and only sufficient minutes to gelatinize the fibers superficially by diluting the solution to a concentration below the mercerase strength, then washing the treated fibers free of the solution and then placing them on the sieve of a paper - or cardboard machine processed into a wool felt paper web.
The alkaline treatment of pulp in the form of loose fibers is known per se, but in the known processes of this type it was carried out for a different purpose and consequently also in a significantly different way. It was either manufacturing a purified cellulose for chemical purposes or high quality papers, whereby the cellulose fibers as much as possible from the pentoses, hemicelluloses contained therein, as a result of the alkali treatment, Gums and resins should be freed, so that essentially one made of soda or one made of alpha cellulose Product emerged. For this purpose, however, in particular a mercerization and accordingly Long-term treatment of the substance with alkali solutions required, whereas in the present method the treatment of the loose pulp fibers with alkali solutions is only superficial Gelatinization of the fibers, but not to a substantial mercerization of the same and not even to a removal of the pentoses,
Hemicelluloses etc. should and may lead out of the fibers, and with that by a temporal Shortest possible alkaline treatment of the fibers mainly only a strong one Crimping of the same is to be achieved, which for the achievement of a felt-like paper-like substance of particularly high absorbency through further processing of the Cellulose fibers pretreated in this way on the ίο sieve of a paper or cardboard machine are a prerequisite is.
Zur Durchführung des neuen Verfahrens ist es hiernach notwendig, daßIn order to carry out the new method, it is necessary that
1. der Zellstoff Fasern von zur Papier- *5 herstellung geeigneter Länge enthält, daß1. the pulp fibers from to paper * 5 making suitable length includes that
2. die Stoffdichte bei der Behandlung mit Alkalilösungen, insbesondere Natronlauge, mindestens 11,9% beträgt, daß2. the consistency of the material when treated with alkali solutions, in particular caustic soda, is at least 11.9% that
The sodium hydroxide solution Mercerisierungsstärke of about 16 to 35 ° / 0, and that, furthermore, as particularly essential
4. die Ätznatroinbehandlung nach höchstens 30 Minuten, vorzugsweise aber sofort nach beendeter Verteilung der Lauge in der Fasermasse, abgebrochen wird, insbesondere durch Verdünnen oder Auswaschen der Lauge, daß4. the caustic soda treatment after at most 30 minutes, but preferably immediately after the lye has been distributed in the fiber mass, is canceled, in particular by diluting or washing out the lye that
The fibers treated in this way come onto the paper sieve as a pulp, whereby
The alkali treatment of the cellulose while avoiding boiling at temperatures should take place from 20 to 60 °.
Dazu sind gewöhnlich 3 Stunden ununterbrochener Waschung in laufender Mühle erforderlich, man kann aber das Waschen natürlich auch in anderer Weise wesentlich schneller durchführen.34 kg kraft pulp from spruce wood with 60 ° / 0 water content are mixed with 250 kg liquor of 19.5 ° / 0 caustic soda content at 55 0 temperature in a Holländer of about 78 kg Volume whose roller about 3 mm held above the floor or base is , whereby the liquor is intimately distributed in the fiber material. As soon as this happens, the mass is immediately washed out with water until it no longer contains any caustic soda. This usually requires 3 hours of uninterrupted washing in a running mill, but washing can of course also be carried out much faster in other ways.
The washed fiber material is then pumped into a mixing box and then through sent to a Jordan mill, where the fibers are lightly cut and shortened, whereupon they then get into a molding box where they are put on a cylinder mold paper machine a paper web. The paper web is fed from the screen cylinder through a wet felt removed, then sent through press rolls for dewatering and finally dried on a dryer.
After the caustic alkali has been washed out, which takes about 3 hours, the fiber material is left in a collecting box, then sent through the Jordan mill without being cut, pumped into the mixing box, guided onto the wire and formed into a paper web on a Fourdrinier paper machine wet felt pressed and dried. If another part of the fiber mass is allowed to pass without pressure over the felt web, then through the drying device and finally through the calenders, the paper becomes more porous and more flexible than in the former case, since the pressing of the dry paper between the calenders increases its flexibility.
Nach 3*/2 Stunden ist die Masse frei von Ätznatron und gibt auf der Maschine ein poröses, aufsaugendes Papier von guter Stärke.360 kg of unbleached Swedish sulphite pulp with 50 ° / 0 water content are mixed with 2650 kg of lye with a content of 20.4 ° / 0 caustic soda in the Hollander at normal temperature. The roller remains 6 mm from the base during the entire washing period. After the pulp is completely soaked with lye, water is added. After 3 * / 2 hours, the mass is free of caustic soda and are on the machine a porous, wicking paper of good strength.
Die so be-A mixture of 454 kg of dry (9o ° / 0 ethyl) kraft pulp with 1816 kg of an aqueous 20 ° / o aqueous sodium hydroxide solution of a device is supplied, the remote of two approximately 1.6 mm to 3.2 from each other, slightly on their sides facing each other ribbed moving at different speeds, e.g. B. one with 100 and the other with 600 revolutions per minute, there is rotating disks. The mixture is fed to such a device centrally by one of the two shafts, the fibers being conveyed by the movement of the discs on their periphery and then into a vessel in which the concentration of the liquor distributed in the fibers is diluted under mercerizing strength. The strength of the standing with the fibers during their treatment in contact liquor is 19.5 ° / 0 and the duration of treatment of the fiber with this liquor for about 15 seconds. The so
handelte Stoffaufschwemmung wird dann nach Verdünnung derselben mit Wasser bis zu einer Stoffdichte von 0,4 °/0 auf einer Langsiebpapiermaschine in eine Papierfilzbahn um-S gewandelt.acted Stoffaufschwemmung is then converted the same 0 after dilution with water to a consistency of 0.4 ° / on a Fourdrinier machine in a Papierfilzbahn to-S.
