Trawling-gear.-The middle part of the head rope and of the ground rope are both connected to an additional towing line by means of which they are lifted. Floats 17 or kites 18 may be secured to the head rope and the ground rope may be weighted and connected at the head rope by vertical lines. Fig. 4 shows the additional towing line 11 connected to the middle of the head-rope 6 and two side lines 16 also connected to the head rope and others 15 connected to the foot rope. The invention is applicable to nets towed by two ships and to beam trawls. The trawl beam may be divided at the middle point and an extra trawl head provided there and connected to the additional towing rope. Several arrangements of lines to other trawls are described and shown, and in the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), other arrangements for towing the head and foot ropes separately are included which do not appear in the Specification as accepted.
