Abstract

259,252,. Kurz-Kasch Co., (Assignees of Copeland, H. N.). Oct. 5, 1925, [Convention date]. Processes; moulding gums and resins. - Phenolic combustion products are formed with striated or burled markings by fusing a mixture of differently coloured material to a viscous state and subjecting to a pressure adapted to displace the material within a mould. Preferably a tablet of material is formed by cold pressing and this tablet is subjected to a comparatively low fusing temperature within the mould so that the material is in thick viscous condition during its displacement therein. Articles such as automobile steering-wheels, electric switches, buttons, picture frames &c. may be formed. Fig. 1 shows a form of knob which is produced in dies 1, 2, Fig. 5. To provide for the flow of the material, the tablet 3 may be apertured as at 4 or the die 1 may be recessed as at 13, Fig. 8. Variations in design may be obtained by superposing tablets of different sizes or by employing tablets of different shapes.
