Abstract

301,432. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Eaton, J.). Nov. 29, 1927, [Convention date]. Processes; moulding resins. - Resinous moulded composition or fibre articles are ornamented by sprinkling the surface of a mould with finely-divided material and compressing the article therein. The invention is applied particularly to the manufacture of switch face plates from a glyceride resin such as described in Specification 3271/13, [Class 95, Paints &c.], or from a phenolic resin. The mould, Fig. 2, is sprinkled at random with powdered material such as bronze powder, indicated at A, after which the moulding composition is inserted and pressure and heat are applied. During moulding, the powdered material becomes embedded in the surface of the article. Fig. 1 shows the finished product. Copper, aluminium or other powders may be used.
