271,192. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Bell, L. M. T. March 8, 1926. Moulds for powdered &c. materials are formed of a synthetic resin or compound of synthetic resin with their impressioned surfaces coated with a thin layer of metallic material. As shown, a two-part mould is produced by introducing within a shell 12 masses 11, 15 of synthetic moulding powder with an intervening pattern 14 and separating-layers 13, 15 of tin or other metallic foil or metallic paste, e.g. copper &c. dust fluxed with shellac etc.; the shell is then placed in a heated press and pressure applied through a plunger. The half moulds may be moulded into backing-plates. In using the moulds, the impressioned faces are first plated or coated with metal foil or paste.
