Abstract

259,249. Paisseau, J. Oct. 5, 1925, [Convention date]. Extrusion machines.-Relates to the production of articles with a nacreous surface, as described in Specification 207,144, [Class 70, India-rubber &c.], and consists in subjecting a plastic mass containing brilliant particles to a drawing process and simultaneously introducing a core of analogous plastic material, previously shaped, or of wood or metal, in order to produce sticks &c. The core is introduced into the drawing die through a tube 4 suitably mounted within the die as shown, for example, in Figs. 3-5. To ensure close adhesion, the tube 4 terminates within the die. Where the tube is supported within the die by bridges, these are of fish-like section to prevent division of the coating. To obtain surfaces with changing lines in imitation of mother-of-pearl, the core 1, Fig. 1, is formed with bosses to which the coating conforms and the projecting portions y<2> of the coating are removed e.g. to the line x by planing &c.
