259,190. Soc. pour la Fabrication de la Soie Rhodiaseta. Oct. 1, 1925, [Convention date]. Addition to 233,384. Apparatus for making filaments.-The several cells constituting a group in a plant for the dryspinning of artificial silk &c. are supplied with heating or cooling fluid by connections arranged in parallel with respect to main collectors which are themselves of very large diameter so as to obviate losses of head with respect to the several points at which the connections branch off, the connections being preferably interchangeable but not adjustable, and of dimensions such that there is a substantial loss of head thereat; to secure the desired uniformity it is convenient to place in each of the connections a thin plate having a small hole of predetermined diameter, or to constrict the piping to a fixed diameter for a predetermined length. Regulation of the temperature is obtained uniformly and simultaneously throughout the cells of a group, by varying the pressure which causes the flow of heating &c. fluid. The method of control is parallel to that adopted in the case of the supply of the evaporative medium as described in the parent Specification. The cells may be provided with one heating &c. element, or with more than one when it is desired that different parts of the cells should be maintained at different temperatures.
