Abstract

259,070. Danks (Netherton), Ltd., H. & T., and Danks, J. A. Dec. 17, 1925. Water-tube boilers. - In a boiler built up of a number of sections each consisting of top and bottom headers D. E connected by inclined parallel tubes G and by a large diameter downcomer tube F as described in Specification 138,473, the tubes G of each section are so arranged as to give straight passages between the tubes from the front and sides and the downcomer tube is placed at the rear of the section. The cross baffles C are supported against the downcomers. The outer edges of the side portions of the baffles are supported in channels 4 in the boiler walls. Alternatively, baffles C<1> may be placed between the tubes in front of the downcomers. A baffle c<2> is arranged between the first and second row of sections in line with the tube plates of the bottom headers of the front row. The downcomer tubes are preferably placed within concentric tubes F<1>. The sections are suspended from overhead girders 6.
