Abstract

258,806. Schwabe, H. J. July 20, 1925. Moistening. - In the damping of silk and like filaments for use on textile machines, the cops or bobbins are enclosed in double walled receptacles 21 and cold water is sprayed from a pipe 18 on to the inner walls. The water flows down the walls and over the floor 24 to a discharge pipe 9. The receptacle is preferably formed of glass and is proivded with double sliding doors 19. Shields 20, 22 prevent the water splashing directly on to the cops. The receptacles may be large to contain reserve cops, or a separate cabinet may be used containing shelves, on which a supply of refills for a number of days can be accommodated. The water is led by baffles in a zig-zag path under the shelves.
