Abstract

258,581. Buxton, W. R. Sept. 16, 1925, [Convention date]. Pouches; purses. - Relates to a flexible folding pocket receptacle of leather &c., one part of which forms a pocket or pouch for coins, tobacco, &c., the other part when the receptacle is in the opened position forming a tray. portion closed in at the edges. Fig. 2 shows a receptacle formed from the blank shown in Fig. 1, the meeting edges 26 being sewn together and the parts 28 then secured by adhesive to the upper face. The creases 22, 23, 24 enable the side walls to rise, lifting with them the end wall 33 of the tray portion 31, on pressure being applied to the sides at the ends of the central fold line 34 dividing the pouch portion 30 from the tray, Fig. 6. When the pressure is released, in the case of the construction shown, the receptacle springs back to its original shape; by modifying the disposition of the creases, however, the receptacle can be arranged so as to retain the distorted shape, as may be required in a tobacco pouch, until pressure is applied to the upper and lower surfaces to release it. Instead of being made from a single creased blank the receptacle may be formed from the parts shown in Figs. 9, 10, and 11, the part 44, an additional lower part, providing a compartment for notes and being attached by parts 45, 46 to the upper face of the receptacle proper, the ends of which are left open. Reinforcing pieces 42, 41 are provided to stiffen the material and so permit the unreinforced material of the sides and ends to fold in the manner provided for by the creases or scorings present in the form first described. The tab 36<1> carrying one element of the fastener may, as shown, be formed on the loose reinforcing member 41 and passed through a slot in the end of the pocket portion, instead of being fixedly attached as in Fig. 2. The part 41 may serve also as a partition for the pocket portion, Fig. 12, the folding flap portion 43 being turned outwardly to gain access to cards &c. placed above the partition.
