Abstract

Vacuum tubes. - In thermionic valves particularly for use as oscillation generators, an auxiliary condenser is 'inserted within the envelope and connected electrically between the grid and cathode virtually to short-circuit the grid and cathode at the frequency of, and so to reduce, the undesirable oscillations of very high frequency liable to occur especially when valves are connected in parallel. The condenser is as large as possible without interfering with the operation of the valve, the grid-filament capacity being made greater than the grid-anode and filament-anode capacities. The auxiliary condenser may comprise two concentric cylinders o, p supported by, and in electrical connection with, the grid frame f and a supporting wire q on one filament lead b. The grid g and the anode m are supported from opposite foottubes of the bulb and the filament hook d is sup- ,ported by insulation e from the frame f.
