Abstract

257,113. Hotchkis, M. H. Sept. 26,1925. Endless-band conveyers; air, controlling direction of flow of; driving-mechanism, application of.-Tea is conveyed upon travelling trays from a position 8 through two superposed drying sections to a discharge drum 13 and is subjected to a downward current of heated air in the upper section and an upward current in the lower section, the air currents passing to the atmosphere through apertures 7 in a space formed between the sections. The heated air is delivered by a fan into the duct 1 and divided by the adjustable deflection 4 into streams 2. 3, the lower of which may be admixed with cold air which is introduced through a pipe 14. The speed of the trays is regulated through chain drives by a gear-box 15 or the usual stepped pulley gear.
