Abstract
256,882. Stanley, A. H., (Bausch & Lomb Optical Co.). March 15, 1926. Spectacles. -Spectacle frames provided with two end-pieces to the lens rims secured together, one of the end pieces having a recess for the reception of the other end piece, have the end pieces provided with interlocking means to prevent relative twisting of the end pieces. Several constructions of such end pieces having interlocking means are described in the Specification. The constructions are specially applicable to double-eared temple pieces. In one example, Figs. 1 and 2, the end pieces 4, 6, the latter of which is the longer and is formed with slots to receive the ears 11 of the temple pieces, are constructed with a recess 37 in one to receive a projecting portion 33 of the other so that when secured by the screw 20 relative twisting is prevented. In place of a recess and projection a short pin and hole may be utilized and in other examples the end piece 4 is narrower than that of the end piece 6 and fits in a recess in the piece 6. Additionally, this end piece 4 may have a projection fitting an undercut recess in the end of the recess in the piece 6. The recess in the piece 6 may be narrower at the mouth than towards the inner end.
