Abstract

297,716. Redfern, C. G., (American Optical Co.). April 20, 1927. Spectacies.- Frames of the kind in which each lens rim has on one end a short off-set piece and on the other end a longer off-set piece having a recess to receive the shorter end piece and to which the temple is hinged on a screw, another screw securing the end pieces together, have the abutting faces 10 of the offset pieces 4, 4a, inclined so that they interlock in the plane of the lens rim. A projecting lug 26 may be provided on the shorter end piece 4a fitting a recess on the piece 4. The underface of the shorter end piece 4a and the upper face of the longer end piece 4 in contact therewith are made of a double bevel or V-form. Screw threaded bushes 27 are secured in one of the end pieces to receive the connecting screws 5, 13 as shown, and washers or distance pieces are arranged between the ears of the temples 3.
