Abstract
256,524. Hodgson, J. L. March 27, 1926. Flow meters, pressure-actuated.-A flow meter placed in shunt across a main flow circuit containing an orifice or equivalent device for creating a difference of pressure comprises a gate 8, Fig. 5, pivoted at or about the centre of a circular cavity and controlled mainly by springs, the cavity having inlet and outlet ports on opposite sides of a baffle extending from the wall of the cavity to the gate axis. At the extreme ends of its travel the gate partially uncovers the ports and is supported by stops arranged at its centre of percussion. The controlling spring, and cam and roller transmitting mechanism, if used, are arranged in a chamber through which there is no flow, as shown in Fig. 2, and the indicating mechanism is operated by a spindle 6 passing through a gland 6A. An alternative outlet closed by a plug is provided. Specification 229,098, [Class 106 (iv), Indicating &c.], is referred to.
