Abstract

Valves closing after predetermined flow.-A valve apparatus adapted for delivering a predetermined quantity of liquid comprises a three-way plug cock c disposed at the bottom of a cylindrical chamber a containing a cut-off valve o and its operating piston n. When the plug cock has been moved to the open position, as shown, liquid from the inlet f flows through the plug passage e and the casing passages and parts h, i, p, and k and thence through an external casing passage to the outlet m. Meanwhile liquid passes through an interchangeable calibrated nipple r in the plug passage q into the chamber a and there gradually forces up the piston n so that the valve o closes the port p and stops the flow. The period of flow can be varied by changing the nipple r, or by adjusting the valve o in relation to the piston.
