Abstract
255,531. Pearce, H. J. April 23, 1925. Two-part couplings. - A sign of the kind in which the letters &c. are spaced away from the background and obscure the illuminating means so that the letters are silhouetted against the illuminated background, has the background a provided with sockets b secured in screwed sleeves c containing a spring-pressed sliding plug g of insulating material carrying a contact f to which the electric-light lead d is secured. A similar contact q is carried by a second plug p and connected by a lead r to the lamps b, the plug p being secured to a sleeve n fixed by a screwed flange o to, and supporting, the letter h. By means of a spring s fixed to the socket band adapted to engage an aperture u in the sleeve n, the two contacts when pressed together are retained in position. In a modification, the sockets are flanged and are adjustably secured in slots in the background or are mounted on sections of background which in turn are adjustably mounted on a base or background support. The plugs and sockets may be reversed in position.
