DESCRIPTION of the industrial invention bearing the title:
Particular liquid solution suitable to cool down and catch the pollutants that are inside the exhausts of diesel engines
The particular liquid solution, subject of this invention, formulated accordingto the table shown in Fig. 1 allows the neutralization of all the harmful substances (NOx and SO2) that are inside the exhausts of diesel engines. The particular liquid solution blends with exhausts and simultaneously cools them down to temperature in range between 35°C and 55°C, just little more than ambient temperature. These conditions facilitate the catching of particular matters PM10 that are also inside the exhaust with the result that they are not dragged by exhausts stream. The optimum operating mode of cooling and mixing with exhausts requires a specific catalytic bed where the particular liquid solution performs its functions.
Being the particular liquid solution at aqueous basis (more than 90% by volume), it can operate at low temperature and be treated by means of electrolytic process for its purification and regeneration.
To facilitate the catching and then the dispersion of carbon clusters of various sizes as well as particular matters PM10, the particular liquid solution requires different types of efficient surfactants.
The presence in the particular liquid solution of potassium carbonate K2CO3 in conjunction with potassium hydroxide KOH allows the selective neutralization of the acidic compounds of NOx and SO2.
The presence of potassium permanganate KMnO4, a strongly oxidizing compound, facilitates the oxidation of nitric oxide NO to become nitrogen dioxide NO2, the latter being more easily neutralized by potassium hydroxide KOH.
The composition of this particular liquid solution makes possible its purification and regeneration from harmful substances, process that takes place in an appropriate electrolytic reactor as the ions present in the solution allow the recombination of original composition, thus not requiring additions of solutes during the numerous operative cycles and keeping anyway its functional characteristics.
Fig. 1 displays the diagram related to the volumetric percentages, as range and as best suggested, of the different components of the particular liquid solution subject of this invention.
The best suggested composition is: 93% of distilled water, 3,8% of surfactants mix, io 2,3% of potassium carbonate K2CO3, 0,65% of potassium permanganate KMnO4,
0,25% of potassium hydroxide KOH.
