Abstract
255,456. Gl³cksmann, E. July 14, 1925, [Convention date]. Emulsions, making; medicines for internal use. -Aqueous emulsions of paraffin, for medicinal use, are prepared by the combined use of two emulsifying agents, a vegetable gum and "algae," the product being of pudding-like consistency. Flavouring matter may be added to the water of which the emulsion is made. According to one example, 1 kilo of agar whilst being heated is dissolved in 50 kilos of water and to it are added 1 kilo of swelled tragacanth and a solution of 6-8 kilos of sugar in 5 kilos of water. The mixture is stirred with 35 kilos of paraffin-oil. In another example, 1 kilo of agar, whilst being heated, is dissolved in 25 kilos of water and to it are added 0.5-1 kilo of gum arabic swelled in water, 6-8 kilos of sugar, and 1 kilo of swelled gelatine. The solution is stirred with 70 kilos of paraffin-oil..
