Abstract
A hand held tool for channelling grout/compound straight into the joints between stone slabs or ceramic tiles. The tool has an angled hopper 4 that channels the grout towards a thin oblong opening along the bottom of the hopper, allowing the grout to exit the hopper and be directed straight into said joints. The tool has a handle 2 with a rubber grip for easy manoeuvrability along the slabs or tiles. Preferably the tool has four stabilising wings 3 on the underside of the hopper that increase the stability of the tool, allowing the tool to be self-supporting. The tool increases the accuracy of a user grouting joints, and minimises spillages and staining of the stone slabs and ceramic tiles. The tool can be used to dispense a wet or a dry mix.

Grouting Trowel
This invention relates to the invention of a guidance tool for the application of grout into the space between such materials as stone slabs or ceramic tiles whether interior or exterior.
The conventional application of grout to the joint between the slabs or tiles can be untidy and wasteful, needing a great deal of accuracy and skill, so as not to leave residue and staining on the slabs. The normal grouting technique is slow and monotonous.
To overcome these problems, this trowel has a unique and clever design to channel the grout straight in to the joint between slabs, thus eliminating spillage and staining making the whole process less time consuming and simpler, the trowel is designed to stand alone, and is light weight, so can easily be filled and left without spillages.
This invention relates to a tool which helps to making grouting cleaner, easier and faster.
The trowel is an angled hopper to channel the grout when moving across the working area, with an open recess at the bottom, so that the grout being used can be easily placed between the joint between slabs, whether using a wet or dry mixture thus allowing easy application without mess or spillage, and therefore avoiding staining the slabs. The consistency of the grout being used is of no consequence unlike conventional methods where a drier mix is advised. The trowel has a handle with a rubber grip for easy manuverability along the slabs or tiles being used, there are four small stabilising wings on the underside so the trowel can stand self-supported, which also makes filling the trowel quick and efficient. The trowel is made from 2mm steel, with welded joins, making it hard wearing and durable, too withstand the rigors of the work site.
2.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying diagrams in which.
Figure 1 shows the grouting trowel unit from the top.
Figure 2 shows the grouting trowel unit from the side.
In figure 1 the angled hopper 4 clearly slopes down to the grout exit gap 1 which runs along the bottom of the tool allowing the grout to exit the hopper into the slabs joints. The rubber covered handle 2 allows for a firm grip of the trowel in either right or left hand. Figure 2, the small wings 3 one in each corner adds to the stability of the unit.
3.
Claims (4)
1. A trowel unit, to guide a compound into the joints between materials using a thin oblong gap along the bottom of the hopper unit, which allows the grout to be applied to the recess between masonry slabs.
2. A trowel unit according to claim 1, in which grout can be easily applied to the joints between patio slabs.
3. A trowel unit according to claim 1 that has a unique designed hopper to hold the grout to reduce staining spillages to slabs.
4. A trowel unit according to claim 1, that with incorporated handle and stabilising struts, help to makes the grouting process quicker.
