255,180. Webb, P. R. May 7, 1925. Condensers comprise fixed plates 4 mounted on insulating posts and separated by insulating washers 5, and moving plates 6 mounted on a spindle 7. The plates 4 can be connected in circuit by a contact member 9 of square section mounted on a rod 10 and carrying a copper strip with stepped resilient fingers 13 aligned with the plates 4 so as to engage the latter in succession. By rotating the rod 10 any number of plates can be cut in or out and vary the maximum capacity of the condenser. The Provisional Specification describes several other modifications and refinements.
