Abstract

Endless - track vehicles. - Comprises a flexible track in which the core of cotton, hemp, metal or the like has hollow guiding, driving, and traction elements detachably secured to it so that they can be readily changed when wear takes place or for any other reason. The core 1 is continuous and its inner face 2 thus presents an even surface for the load-carrying rollers to run on. The tread or ground surface 4 is plastic and may be of indiarubber vulcanized on to the core. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, and at b, Fig. 5, the core is formed with a continuous rib 5 having grooves 9 into which the ends of hollow metal blocks 3 are sprung. These blocks act as guiding and driving members, and may be covered with indiarubber to reduce noise. The blocks 3 may be riveted to the rib 5, as shown at a, Fig. 5, and the rib may be notched at 6 to increase flexibility. In the construction shown in Fig. 4 and at d, Fig. 5, the blocks 3 are secured directly to the core 1 by means of bolts 11, and a continuous metal band 13 may be provided to take all the traction strain. The blocks 3 and the band 13 may be welded together, so that thecomplete track is formed of two detachable parts,. the core, and the band together with the blocks.
