Abstract

254,044. Shaw & Sons, Ltd., M., and Hannan, F. April 16, 1925. Chain structure modified to form series of rests or carriers. - A link chain for use as a travelling furnace grate, conveyer, elevator or the like comprises links in which the head 1, Figs. 1 and 2 is provided with a concave inner side 3 and convex outer side 2 co-operating with corresponding sides of adjacent links. The links engage by means of loops 4 and hooks 5 and are adapted to pivot about a transverse axis and a vertical axis. The centre of the loop 4 is the centre of curvature of the concave side 3 and the vertical limb of the hook 4 is the centre of curvature of the concave side 2. The upper surface of the link may be provided with a slot 8 and the concave side 3 may be provided with grooves 7. Instead of the loop having its arms connected to the sides of the head 1, as shown, it may be connected to the centre of the head.
