Crossheads.-In meters with twin pistons actuating a common crank-shaft, each piston-rod 8 is provided with a packing-piston 40 in place of a stuffing-box. The piston 40 is directly connected to the connecting-rod 43. Separate cross- 42 release the piston 40 of lateral forces.
