Abstract
252,566. Craig, R. M. July 14, 1925. Reel and endless web apparatus. - In endless-band apparatus in which the band passes between a source of light and a facetted translucent screen a stationary or movable signbearing medium is located between the light and the screen, and a movable or stationary colour-imparting medium between the light and the sign-bearing medium. The screen is held in the front of a casing 1 having a hinged lid. The sign-bearing band 11 passes round rollers 13, 14, 15, 26, 27, 28 mounted on fixed vertical spindles so as to be readily removable for changing the band. The roller 15 is driven by a motor 34, and the roller 28 is retracted by an elastic band 31 to tension the band 11. The lamp 41 is in the motor circuit and by substituting for same a lamp of different resistance, the speed of the motor may be altered. The facets in the screen 44 may be pyramidal in shape, or be in the form of circular depressions 48, Fig. 11, arranged in staggered formation on opposite faces of the screen. A statinonary colour screen 50 is held by clips 51 behind the band 11. In a modification, opal glass is substituted for the colour screen, and a front screen painted with wavy colour stripes is used. In another form of the invention, stencelled letters on a stationary screen are interposed between a front facetted screen and a rear moving endless band bearing colours which may be in the form of stripes.
