Abstract

252,337. McCord Radiator & Mfg. Co., (Assignees of Bailey, C. B.). May 20, 1925, [Convention date]. Joint-making packing.-Packing lor the heads of multiple-cylinder engines, &c. comprises a gasket with a flat body 1 formed from a single layer of copper, brass, aluminium, zinc or other sheet metal which is provided with holes 2 for the cylinders, and smaller holes 0, 7 for water passages and studs respectively. Pressure-receiving folded portions 9 providing three or four thicknesses of metal are arranged around the holes. The portions 9 may be on the same side as in fig. 3, or on the opposite side and extend through the openings as in 9<b>, Fig. 6.
