323,295. Griffith, C. C., and Cooper's Mechanical Joints, Ltd. Oct. 25, 1928. Joint-making packing. - Packing for internalcombustion engine cylinder joints &c. comprises a single sheet of copper or brass provided with holes for the cylinders, &c. and constructed so that the pressure is localized at the edges of the gasket and the holes therein. The packing is edged on one or both sides with narrow bands of copper &c. The body, Fig. 2, comprises a ductile copper plate with edging 5, 6 formed by a metal, channel section strip. The thin sheet 8, Fig. 3, forming the packing-body has its edges rolled over wires 9.
