Abstract

252,292. Blakeborough, R. A., and Mosby, S. W. June 12, 1925. Protecting-covers. - A screw - actuated parallel slide stop valve has the screw protected by a collapsable cover disposed between a crosshead secured to a valve carrier and the fixed thrust bar against which the thrust collar of the screwed spindle works. In the form shown in the Figure the cover is formed as a tapered spiro-helical spring j and is held in place by a flanged member k engaging the collar g<2> and by a nut h<1> engaging the bottom convolution of the spring. In a modification the cover is formed of a series of separate rings, each of which may form the frustrum of a cone.
