Abstract

251,517. Taylor, F. D. Oct. 6, 1925. Tidal energy, utilizing.-In means for utilizing tidal energy of the kind comprising an adjustable mounting carrying motor wheels, the mounting is adjusted by screwed shafts. The apparatus comprises a pair of spaced walls 7, Figs. 1 and 3, having sluice gates 9 operated from shafts 14, a barge 17 disposed between the walls, and conduits 19 and turbines 20 carried by the barge. The barge is guided by vertical rods 35 passing through openings in the barge, and is adjusted by screwed shafts 24 engaging nuts 25 and simultaneously driven from a. motor 28. The turbine shafts may be geared to the shafts 29 of electric generators 30 mounted on barges 31a rigidly connected to the ends of the barge 17.
