Abstract

249,812. Romanoff, H. W. March 24, 1925, [Convention date]. Nipping.-An appliance for cutting wires has an arm 7 with cutter 8 pivoted on a pin 4 and an arm 5 with cutter 6 pivoted on an eccentric 37. The pivots 4, 87 are secured to an arm 1. To the free end of the arm 5 is attached a chain 11 engaging a sprocket keyed to a wheel 14 actuated by pawls on a lever 2. As the latter is oscillated the arms 5, 7 are swung about their pivots and the cutters sever the wire 9. The arm 1 may be stationary or the appliance may be portable.
