Machine cutters, grinding in situ.-A grinding disc 22 and a whetting disc 32 are provided for grinding a helical sickle-shaped cutter for severing a continuous cigarette-rod. The disc 22 is oscillated about an adjustable pivot by crank gear 10, and a link 13 is joined by a rod 29 to a carrier 33 for the disc 32. The carrier 33 is pivoted in a pin 34 on a support 36 adjusted by a screw 40.
