Platen - shift mechanism; paper feeding and guiding arrangements; toy machines.-In typewriters for use by children or in teaching, the paper-apron and a shiftable yoke carrying the platen are mounted on a common shaft on the carriage. A shaft e, mounted in a sheet-metal yoke d, secured to the carriage c, supports a paper-apron h and a sheetmetal yoke f carrying the platen g. The yoke f has a flange n engaging a shift-key lever o. The paper-apron has ears i engaging the shaft and is pressed by springs k which are coiled on the shaft and enter holes in the yoke f. Feed-rollers p are mounted in ears q on the paper-apron.
