248,487. Imray, O. Y., (Farbwerke vorm. Meister, Lucius, & Br³ning). Dec. 9, 1924. Naphthalene, dyes derived from; lakes.-Green dyestuffs, especially suitable for the production of takes by the usual methods, are obtained by treating an 8-halogen-1 : 2-naphthylenediamine-5- sulphonic acid with a ferric salt. In an example the 8-chloro compound is treated with ferric chloride in aqueous solution containing sodium acetate; the product is converted into a lake by mixing its solution in sodium carbonate with barium sulphate and aluminium sulphate and finally adding barium chloride. Specification 17615/10 is referred to. 8 - Chloro-1 : 2-naphthylenediamine-5-sulphonic acid is obtained by coupling 8-chloro-1-naphthylamine-5-sulphonic acid with diazobenzene and reducing.
