Abstract
Finely grained precipitates are obtained by spraying reacting liquids at the moment of <PICT:0408891/III/1> mixing, or immediately after mixing but before the reaction is complete. Additional substances may be added to modify the surface-tension or to accelerate or retard the reaction. A suitable apparatus consists of two rapidly rotating bodies c, d separated by a narrow annular space e to which the reactants are admitted by passages I, II. A knife f may be projected into the space e as required to remove deposits, and the apparatus is surrounded by a collecting vessel (not shown). The following applications of the invention are described, viz. :--(1) b -naphthol is precipitated by acidifying an alkaline solution, (2) the sodium salt of the dyestuff from diazotized 2-chloro-4-sulpho-5-amino-1-benzoic acid and b -naphthol is caused to react with barium chloride, (3) a diazo-compound prepared in known manner from 3-nitro-4-toluidine is united with acetic acid anilide, forming a yellow pigment, (4) barium sulphate is obtained by reaction of the chloride with sodium sulphate.ALSO:<PICT:0408891/IV/1> Finely grained precipitates are obtained by spraying reacting liquids at the moment of mixing, or immediately after mixing but before the reaction is complete. A suitable apparatus comprises two rapidly rotating bodies c, d separated by a narrow annular space e to which the reactants are admitted by passages I, II. The following applications of the invention are described, viz.: (1) b -naphthol is precipitated by acidifying an alkaline solution; (2) the sodium salt of the dyestuff from diazotized 2-chloro-4-sulpho-5-amino-1-benzoic acid and b -naphthol is caused to react with barium chloride; (3) a diazo-compound prepared in known manner from 3-nitro-4-toluidine is united with acetic acid anilide, forming a yellow pigment.
